How do I obtain my Vassar VCard?
If you are a new student, you will receive your VCard during orientation week. Otherwise, stop by the Card Office on the first floor of ACDC or give us a call at #2273.
Exactly where is the Card Office?
The Card Office is located on the first floor of ACDC, which is also known as the Students Building. Enter the main lobby and turn left just before the entrance to the dining area. The Card Office is a few feet further down that hallway, past the double doors. See our contact page for a map.
What should I do if I lose my card?
You may deactivate your card at the Online Card Office. You may also stop by the Card Office or call us at #2273. If you lose your ID card after hours, please contact the Campus Response Center at #5221. The Sergeant on duty has the ability to issue a temporary card to use. Note: A fee of $25.00 is levied to replace lost or stolen ID cards.
I can't access my online account. What should I do?
Come see us or give us a call at extension #2273.
How do I know what meal plan to choose?
You may be able to estimate your semester's budget by multiplying your point usage over the first 10 days of class by a factor of 10.
How do I change my meal plan?
Within two weeks of the start of class in each semester, you may change your meal plan by paying a visit to the Dean of Students Office on the first floor of Main Building. New students have until October Break in the fall term or March Break in the spring term to finalize their choice.
How do I obtain more meal plan points?
The best time to buy more points is during the Card bonus week, which follows the break period in each semester. You get a 30% bonus when you purchase points during either of these two weeks. You may of course buy additional points in the Card Office at any time during the academic year. You may purchase points online. And you may even purchase points from other students. Stop by the Card Office or give us a call at extension #2273 for more details.
How does a Point Calendar help me track my point use?
Point Calendars track the average pace of each meal plan on a weekly basis throughout each semester. Just total your points up on any Friday during the term and compare with the total listed for your meal plan on the Calendar.
Point Calendars are available online from the Campus Dining web site and as flyers in the racks by the tray dropoffs in ACDC.
What if I don't use all my meal plan or declining balance points?
Leftover points carry over from fall to spring. The last day points can be spent is Commencement Day in May. There are lots of good ways to put your "extra" points to good use - cater a party, purchase some goods from ACDC, or stock up in the semester-end convenience store! Contact the catering office (#5833) for more details.
What's the difference among VCash, Meal Plan and Declining Balance?
Here's the deal. If you're living in a residence hall, you're on a meal plan. If you're living in a TA, TH, South Commons, you don't have to be on a Meal Plan but you may choose to purchase Declining Balance. Neither meal plan nor declining balance accounts are taxed, and thus neither is refundable. Both accounts are accepted at all Campus Dining locations.
VCash is available to all members of the community. It is a cash account which you must use on campus for laundry services, may use on campus for copies in the library and college center and most purchases at the post office, and may use off campus for purchases at about 30 participating local businesses. You may not, however, access this account at any campus dining facility.
